| Report: | Even Cowbridge isn't posh enough for some people! The B's started the new season without the Golden Retriever who'd moved to Weston Upon Foxhunting. How could we ever replace him? Hello Stacey! Club champ and 2x European Masters winner. .. er Tim who? In fact, she's so good, we've decided to rebrand ourselves as 'The A Team'. (Cue bullet sound effects).
You know you've got a good team when someone like Si is playing at 5! The veteran prepared meticulously for the game by taking 3 weeks off! After a sloppy start, a scrappy middle bit, he finally warmed up and denied Jon C a winning start to the season. 1 nil Moo Toon.
It was an A team debut for the Beast of Broadhaven and the big man didn't disappoint. Murph was testing his knee and his ankle with each rally while Sean was more interested in testing the structural stability of the front wall! In this battle of the headbands, terry towelling defeated cotton in straight sets. You just can't compete with that level of absorption! 2 nil Moos.
Chris was so shocked to be playing at 3 he lost his first game. (I wrote that before he went on to lose the next one too). He's training for a charity boxing match see! He had all the moves, shadow squashing against Steve, the dancing Doc, who had a few moves of his own and in a lethal combination he knocked Chris out in the 3rd! (2-1)
With Jimmy getting a taste of his own medicine and being stood up by his opponent, the A's decided it was time to unveil their star summer signing. Alex (the pie man) Wilkins looked on in horror as he faced....... the Final Boss of Cowbridge! He put in a good shift to be fair but Stacey, visibility upset about having to play more than 11 points, took it out on the lively lefty and closed the game out, securing a team win and 4 bonus points! (3-1)
With the team match won, Jimmy's game felt more like a chocolatey encore, an after 8 mint of a match as his date finally arrived, eager to please. Rob wasn't going to be a pushover though and frustrated Jimmy, making him sweat in his 90's aerobics outfit before eventually succumbing to the chocolatier's delicate touch.
A 4-1 win and a decent start for Dan, who must be the only player in history to have got worse and then find themselves A team captain! He'll enjoy it while it lasts. So it's all change in the teams but over in the rugby club it was business as usual with pie, chips and enough beans to fill the Strait of Hormuz.
