Report

Report:Match Report by Tim E [The Retriever]

If you ask me, this season is too long. Having picked up 90% of their points in their first 7 games, Cowbridge are ending the season like my mates hamster who ran down a blind ended pipe. It didn't end well for Cedric. Fortunately it was only an average Rhiwbina C tonight who would probably go easy on us.

The captain decided to lead by example. Dan quickly arrived at 13-8 up against a lively Connor. Easy stuff. As with the season it probably should have stopped there. We won't talk about the rest but suffice to say Dan showed us how to do it. Tbf he did get a point.

Tim swanned onto court looking confident. Having been curing the sick and the elderly of South Wales all day he was fed some of his own medicine as Millie took him to the sword. It seemed to work in the 2nd game and at 14-14 there was a gasp in the stands as Millie called set 3. Surely you never call 3 against the retriever? Honestly the cheek. It was humiliating. Tim couldn't get over it. Dim points.

On the adjacent court Chris was the next soldier being sent over the lines. He had pleaded to be left out due to a hurty knee but at the risk of a court marshall played the martyr. I didn't see the game but my he is looking slim these days. We asked him at the end what the secret is. Turns out its like dry January but its called dry Mondays. Dim points.

Turns out Simone (pronoun they/them) had also cottoned on to this dry Mondays. Playing at 3 tonight they only rose to the challenge and playing some divine squash, ducking, dodging and diving they went on to lose 3-0. It was quite close though and tbf the courts were sh**. Far too warm for them. We all know they like it cold. Dim points.

Finally Tim showed the B team how to actually score some points. As I watched the game it was like looking in a mirror as these very similar players trying to beat each other at their own games. It was like watching an audition for Billy Elliot as each of them pranced across the court. Neither of them would have got the part but there are no points for style. It went to the wire and Andrew took it. Honestly as if they really needed any more points. 2 points!

Finally last on court, ref who played excellently tonight and took maximum points and 25% of Cowbridge Bs tally. Well played Ref. 1 point.

Anyway who needs points when you have a hattrick of sausages and because it isn't a Monday you can drink until you pass out. Cheers Rhiwbina we love you really. X
