Report

Report:Notes: Alex had to retire in string 3 due to injury after the 3rd game.

Full match report:

It was 3rd versus 4th in South Central 2 tonight as Cowbridge hosted a slightly weakened David Lloyd side. The prize for the winners would be the chance to brush shoulders with Old Pens at the top of the table.

Jon arrived late. Just after the first game in fact as he was busy putting his chickens to bed! However, he soon caught up with things and restored the pecking order in the 5th string match and sent Raj for an early dust bath, winning the game 3-1 to get the home team off to a good start.

Payney was up next and despite the combined age on court being over 120 years, there was some tidy squash on display as Si got the job done in timely fashion and in straight sets too. 2 nil Cowbridge!

After "thrashing Chris" in the box league, Alex promised much but offered little as he failed to deliver in the 3rd string match, going down 3-1 to Julian and even faking injury to limit the abuse on the David Lloyd WhatsApp group. (2-1)

Dan was hoping the team would be 3 nil up by this point so he could chill out and enjoy the game but with the match in the balance he had some work to do. In a sizzling match that could have gone either way, he edged it 3-1 due to Dave wearing himself out by running too much! 3-1 Cowbridge and game over.

With no other matches to watch and nothing on the tele, the crowd dutifully gathered on the Hamlet balcony to watch Chris take on a very capable opponent in Louis. After losing the first game by a decent margin, Chris decided it was time to rack up some more points for the home team and won the next 3, and the team match 4-1.

18 tired legs walked the short distance to the rugby club and were rewarded handsomely with some fine dining and cool beers. Well played DL, looking forward to the return game.
